VEDC - Job-Focused Small Business and Microfinance Loans


An experienced Burbank, California, attorney, James Morris has brought numerous cases to verdict over his career. Attorney James Morris maintains a strong presence in the Burbank community and is a founding member of the San Fernando Valley Economic Alliance. He is also a former board member of Valley Economic Development Centers (VEDC).

Established four decades ago and initially known as Vitalize Van Nuys, VEDC has grown into a nationwide driver of small business development. It provides capital resources, from microfinancing to small business loans, to companies that do not qualify for conventional bank financing. The organization maintains offices spanning Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago, and New York’s tristate area.

To date, VEDC has arranged more than $360 million in lending to approximately 100,000 businesses, and estimates point to nearly 30,000 new jobs created as a result of these activities. The nonprofit 501(c)(3) also provides one-on-one consulting, augmented by training events that bring together a broad spectrum of local entrepreneurs. VEDC’s activities extend to helping families access savings and refunds on their federal and state tax returns. Reflecting its community-focused mission, the nonprofit maintains an extensive network of sponsors among banks and financial services providers.
